A GROUP of residents is hosting an expression of interest meeting for a 'Death Cafe' in Kendal on March 30.
The meeting will take place at 5-7 pm at the upstairs section of The Factory Tap. Participants should ask for Wyn and Deyna when they enter.
Death Cafes are a global movement. They were formed to 'increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.' They are not for grief or loss counselling, but to explore the concept of death in a friendly space.
Death Cafes are a 'social franchise' which means that people who sign up for the guide and principles can use the name 'Death Cafe.' Since September 2011, there have been 15,459 cafes set up in 83 countries. The first one was set up in Hackney at the house of founder Jon Underwood.
