A NEW Indian Deli is set to open in Kendal.

Eat Indian will be located at 5a Highgate in the old TUI travel agents opposite Tesco Express.

Work has already started to transform the building and the new business is set to open within eight weeks.

It will provide a variety of cooked and chilled dishes from curries to Indian sweets and savouries, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

Fuzail Patel, the manager and owner of Eat Indian, said: "We are opening in Kendal because we have a lot of customers who are from Kendal travelling to our shop in Lancaster.

"They kept telling us that we needed something like this in Kendal so we thought about giving it a go.

"I know Kendal quite well and it is what we are looking for in terms of business. Kendal has a good amount of locals and a lot of surrounding villages.

"There will be a section where people can enjoy their food and we will also be offering lunchtime snacks so people can have a quick grab and go to work."

Mr Patel's mother is from Gujarat in India and she is the main chef behind all the food.

He added: "We can't wait to open in Kendal and see how we get on.

"From Kendal we are looking into other areas in Cumbria as well."

Eat Indian will be opened seven days a week from 9am until 8pm.

The deli is already established in Preston and Lancaster.
