A BAND is performing a free concert to mark a special occasion.
Burneside Brass are giving a free concert in The Salvation Army Hall, Gillinggate, Kendal, on April 2 at 2pm.
The performance will take place to ‘celebrate the fact that 30 years ago two villagers in a Post Office chat thought it would be a good idea to start their own brass band’.
A spokesman for Burneside Brass said: “30 years later, and after two visits to the National Finals in Cheltenham, the band is still going strong and now have a Youth Band as well as a Training Band to compliment the main band.
“Who would have thought that Bill and Peter's chat could have led to a successful band who have entertained at concerts and events all around the South Lakes area for such a long time and also introduced many people to a new hobby, and nurturing the hidden talent of music making in many people.
“The band always welcomes players of any standard at rehearsals and full details can be found on the bands web site at www.burnesidebrass.co.uk”
