A RETROSPECTIVE application to retain a larger-sized beer garden at a Kendal pub has been approved.
The permission that has been granted for the facility at the Duke of Cumberland, Appleby Road, is temporary and will expire after one year.
The plan from Punch Partnerships (PML) Ltd incorporated covered outdoor seating, planters and a pergola.
The permission was granted by South Lakeland District Council (SLDC), which merged into the Westmorland and Furness unitary authority on Saturday, subject to a number of conditions.

Among the stipulations was that a noise management plan be submitted to and approved in writing by the council within three months.
Jackie Dickinson, environmental health officer at SLDC, had expressed concerns in an internal memorandum, published online, that the extension and use of the beer garden might 'result in loss of amenity'.
She therefore recommended a qualified professional carry out a noise assessment.
