CUMBRIAN MP Tim Farron will take on Windermere Marathon to raise money for charity.

The MP will be running for Christians Against Poverty, which is partnered with the new Kendal District and Debt Centre which provides support to people in the South Lakes, on May 21.

The 26.2 mile circuit of Windermere takes in Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Bowness and Ambleside.

The Mp said: “I’m proud to be taking on the Windermere Marathon to raise funds for the brilliant charity Christians Against Poverty.

“They have given serious, practical help to dozens of local people and families who were in need.

“At a deeply difficult time for so many, I’m enormously grateful for the work they are doing with the new Kendal District and Debt Centre to help transform lives.”

Jonny Gios, chair of Kendal District and Debt Centre, added: “We so appreciate Tim running for us to raise vital funds where many are experiencing real challenges across our community.

“Debt is growing and increasing and we need to add capacity and growth to support those in our area who need support.

“This not only raising vital funds but also the profile of what Kendal and District Debt Centre does alongside CAP.

"We can work with everyone and we’d encourage you to get in touch to find out how we can support you."
