CHILDHOOD friends who only started dating seven years ago enjoyed a 'perfect' wedding at a Lake District venue.

Charlie Amelia Chedgzoy, a 29-year-old early year practitioner working with children in a forest school nursery married Daniel Jake Stuart, a 35-year-old HGV Driver for a Scrap Merchant.

The pair from South Yorkshire have known each other from a young age.

"Dan has been a family friend for 30 years, going through nursery and school with my older brother who's his best friend and best man", said Charlie.

"We've always been close friends and eventually started dating seven years ago and fell in love almost straight away."

Charlie said she 'loves' Dan's 'laid back chilled personality' with his 'unpredictable sense of humour'.

Dan said: "I like how Charlie keeps me on the straight and narrow. I love her because she feeds me and gave me a beautiful little boy."

The couple got engaged on the Isle of Man in front of Peel Castle, one of their favourite places to visit.

Charlie said: "I was definitely surprised and everything about it was beautiful, the weather, the location, the ring and the whole moment."

They got married on March 23 2023 at Cragwood Country House Hotel in Windermere with a total of nine people.

After the ceremony they had a party at home where all their friends and family could celebrate with them.

Charlie said: "The day was perfect from start to finish. The photographer was absolutely unreal. She knew the best spots and literally got knee deep in the lake to get amazing shots of us, as well as carrying my dress through puddles, she's simply the best.

"Walking down the aisle was a massive highlight. I cried when our song started playing before I even started walking. Dan teared up soon as he saw me and I think it was definitely one of my dad's proudest moments.

"I loved how the day wasn't too long and we were back at our lodge for the afternoon soaking in the hot tub and taking time to talk about the day."

The couple will spend their honeymoon in Tenerife.
