AN AMATEUR theatre group has been rehearsing hard for its four-night long show to take place this month.

Burneside Amateur Theatrical Society (BATS) have a show at the Bryce Institute in Burneside starting on May 31 for four nights.

Following on from last year's All At Sea Showstoppers, BATS returns with the production Showstoppers: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

This year's cast and crew have been working to bring these songs and 'dance extravaganza' to the Bryce including songs from Mary Poppins, Wicked, Sweeney Todd, Matilda and The Addams Family.

BATS Producer Sue Cook said: "I wanted to really reflect the talent in the society for this year's show, so each musical segment has its own director, bringing their own vision to the musical numbers.

"We have Becca Storey's take on Wicked, Amelia King's ghoulishly fun Addams Family and Helen Fothergill marshalling the enthusiastic junior chorus in the Matilda segment. But each director is working hard to pull the show into a cohesive whole, within the concept of the good, the bad and the ugly."

"Cast and crew are really being put through their paces to get everything ready for the first night on May 31. It's going to be fun!"

The society also produces plays and musical events, ranging from Dracula to The Ladykillers.

Showstoppers: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly will take place at 7:30pm from Wednesday May 31 until Saturday June 2.
