HUNDREDS of retro enthusiasts gathered for a weekend full of food, music, vehicles and fun.

Sun kissed the centre of Ulverston for the ninth edition of Retro Rendezvous.

The festival took place across Market Street and New Market Street with live music hosted at the Sun Inn in its beer garden.

Car and bike enthusiasts were in for a treat with vintage vehicles on exhibition, from Porsche, Honda, Mini Cooper and Morris Minor.

The event also saw a vintage and retro market, a food court and the Velo Retro vintage cycle ride.

Multiple cyclists signed up to the ride which they could pick from a selection of routes on Sunday.

The routes ranged from 20km (12.42 miles) up to 97km (60.27 miles).

Alan Brenton, one of the organising team, said the retro cycling scene is 'very much international'.

He said: "I'm seeing posts about this event all over Europe.

"If you try to get an hotel room or a place in a restaurant this weekend in Ulverston you would struggle.

"This year is the biggest the event has ever been with over 400 riders here and we know that on average every rider brings half a person with them.

"At least 600 people are here just for the riding and most of them are here for the weekend, which is obviously great for the economy."

Sue Fleming, who has been a volunteer at the festival for over four years, said it was 'lovely' to be back.

She said: "It is a great atmosphere and an interesting mixture.

"Ulverston is a festival town and it needs its festivals and they are all different.

"The town is alive because people come in to the town to go to the festival."

Charlotte Gospel, who came from North Yorkshire with her family, said this was the third time they attended the festival.

She said: "We did it before Covid and we have come back the last couple of years.

"We really enjoy the festival, it is good fun and it is nice that it is back in the town centre - there is more of a festival feel to it."

Next year, Retro Rendezvous returns for its tenth edition.
