Helicoptor rescues paraglider in trouble.
On another hot and sunny day, a paraglider had an issue with his parachute and spiralled into the top of Great How Crags, hurting his neck.
Around 4:20pm on Friday June 16, Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called out to Great How Crags.
Helimed 08 from Blackpool was able to land close and commence treatment, and they did not have the manpower for a stretcher-carry.
At this point Cumbria Police decided to call the emergency rescue team to assist.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team sent two Land Rovers to the Levers Water dam, and the team hiked up via Levers Hause to the incident scene from there.
They assisted the paramedics in loading the casualty onto their scoop stretcher and carried him to the helicopter.
He was then flown to Preston Hospital for further treatment, while Coniston Mountain Rescue Team carried his gear down the hill.
The incident was attended by 14 volunteer team members for 3 hours and 10 minutes.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team said :"A big thank you to the lady who stopped to help him and was still there when we arrived."
