The Great Taste 2023 results have been released - and it's good news for three Cumbrian businesses.

More than 14,000 food and drink products from across the UK were assessed by 500 industry experts.

There have been a number of worthy recipients this year with three Cumbrian companies are the best having been awarded three stars.

Mr Vikki's has been celebrated for their Habanero Chilli Jam, Tomato and Nigella Chutney and King Naga Pickle. While Wagtail Kitchen has been applauded for their Steak & Blackstick Blue Pie and The Torpenhow Cheese Company has received approval for the Darlinghow.

Mr Vikki’s is a small bespoke multiple award-winning Indian Chilli Pickle, Chutney and Sauce producer on the edge of the Lake District.

They are dedicated to using fresh, natural ingredients that are made into unique recipes by award-winning chef Adam Marks.

The “chilli-addicts” produce over thirty different products which have won over 110 awards since the business was established in 2005.

Wagtail Kitchen is based in the heart of Britain’s beautiful Lake District, founded upon a 'love of good food and a passion for traditional values'. They have been crafting artisan pies since 2019.

Steve Manders, founder and chef of The Wagtail Kitchen, said they stand by the 'craft of great cooking' and have 'turned these passions into business'.

Wagtail Kitchen makes handcrafted, unique recipes with bestselling pies such as the Steak and Blacksticks Blue, classic steak and ale, Chicken Ham and Leek.

Torpenhow have been making organic cheese since 2019. Their award-winning cheese is made by hand in their farmhouse dairy using fresh milk from the family farm.
