A café in Kendal is giving away food in honour of the owner's mum who died this morning (August 2). Owner Farit Altinyollar, of Café Olive, a Turkish-inspired Mediterranean café, has had to travel to Turkey suddenly to be with family.

His mum, Ikbal Altinyollar, passed away today at age 89.

A spokesperson for Café Olive, based on Stramongate, said: "Ikbal was a lovely lady who loved life and laughter - full of life and character.

"Farit had prepared lots of delicious mezes and boreks so we are also giving away all the food I made in Café Olive in her name. Anyone can come and takeaway. No charge. Please, if you and your friends are passing the Café Olive just pop in and take some meze and boreks.

"We couldnt waste to all that lovely delicious fresh food - she would hate food waste so we are giving away all the Turkish pies."
