TWO postmen are set to cycle to Edinburgh to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

David Bell and Martin Heap will cycle to Scotland's capital to raise money for the charity.

The men, who have been working together at Kendal's Royal Mail for over 20 years, are embarking on this challenge as part of the Royal Mail charity partnership.

Mr Bell said: "My boss at work was asking if we had any ideas that anybody would like to put forward and I thought about giving it a go.

"I have always fancied cycling to Edinburgh, so I challenged my colleague Martin and he was quite happy to do it.

"This is a huge challenge but a lot of it might be weather dependent but we will certainly give our best shot."

The 140-mile cycle ride is going to take between eight to ten hours.

Mr Bell and Mr Heap have been training together before the ride to Edinburgh, where family and friends are travelling up to meet them at the finish line, on September 10

The postmen have set a target of £1,500 to raise money for the charity.
