The summer holidays are the longest break in the school calendar.

Lasting around five to six weeks, the novelty of not being at school may begin to wear off and parents may run out of fun ideas to keep children entertained.

Treetop Nets - Windermere

Located on the banks of Windermere, this high ropes adventure can see kids over the age of seven zipping, balancing and leaping from tree to tree at a height of 15m. After completing the lower-level Mini Trek, they can then take on the Full Trek course with 32 exciting obstacles including balance bars, swinging logs and Indiana Bridges.

There is also a thrilling 250m triple zip-line descent to the shore of Windermere.

Grizedale Forest

Described as "an unrivalled day out" by Forestry England, visitors can explore the forest on two wheels, on foot or horse back. This incredible landscape is dotted with unique sculptures and those more adventurous can swing among the trees on one of the Go Ape courses.

The attraction is open all the way until December at Raines Hall Farm. The working farm has plenty of animals including cattle, sheep, pigs, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, llamas, alpacas, goats, horses and donkeys.

There are two maize mazes on site including quiz trails and there are also tractor rides, a soft play area, trampolines and go karts.

The World of Beatrix Potter - Bowness-on-Windermere

Break Free Escape Rooms - Barrow

The Westmorland Gazette: The first room in the 'Abandoned Factory'

Located on Rawlinson Street, Barrow's latest escape rooms has four rooms in total which are Prison Break, Room 13, Ascension, Abandoned Factory along with a fantastic ship-themed Laserquest.

The rooms vary in difficulty and challenges have to be complete in an hour. Up to six people can play and rooms come complete with props to wear.
