CHANGING grade boundaries was no barrier to Queen Katherine School students producing a strong set of A-Level and BTEC results.
This year's cohort leaves the school with one in three grades at A or A* equivalent.
Headteacher Jon Hayes said: "As always, we are incredibly proud of our students and their achievements. Alongside these fantastic exam results, our Year 13 are taking away EPQ qualifications, Gold D of E awards and other experiences that will help them in their future. On behalf of all the staff and governors, I wish them every success as they move on to university, apprenticeships and the next steps in their lives."
Charlie Owen will be going to Cambridge to read Natural Sciences. He got exceptional grades - A,A*,A*,A*,A* (EPQ). He said: "Obviously academically it'll be amazing but it's also a completely different experience."
Dom Richardson, who got A*,A,A,A (EPQ) is going to York University to study Physics with Astrophysics. Regarding his future, he said: "At the minute I’m deciding whether I’d like to stay in the academic world in physics but I’d also like to be a physics teacher."
Callum Ashcroft got A*,A,A, and is going to do a Foundation Year at Kendal College before going to Newcastle University to study Fine Art. He said: "It was a lot of coursework and a lot of work in general. I'm just completely speechless, not very good for an interview!"
Holly Turner will go to University College London to read English Literature with A*,A*,A,A*(EPQ) grades. She said: "I think it’s something I’ve always been interested in, once I got into A-Level after a few weeks I was like I really want to do this it’s obvious I want to do.
"It was constant from the exam board that we’re going to make it back to how it was in 2019, a lot of reminders that it’s not going to be how it was in the past.
“Especially in the last few weeks, there’s a lot of fearmongering. It’s definitely been a lot."
Charlotte Deverill will take her A, A*, A* to her Mechanical Engineering course in Nottingham. She has been interested in engineering since she did a course in Year 9.
She said: "I started revising in February which thankfully paid off.”
Lily Acland got A*,A*,A, and will be doing an Art and Design foundation for one year at Kendal College. After this, she accepted a place at UWE Bristol to study Animation. She said: "I'm really happy with my results, and I'm so grateful for my teachers and all their hard work. I'm excited for university, and never having to do an exam again!"
