Domino’s Pizza has a new competitor in a Lake District town.

Rastelli’s Pizzeria, in Bowness, has launched its very own pizza delivery service.

Trevor Francis and business partner Richard Phillips took over the running of the restaurant on Lake Road on April 1 and soon noticed that there was a gap in the market.

Instead of just selling pizza, pasta and garlic bread, the duo also offers less traditional Italian options such as steak, chicken and other main courses, as well as popular desserts.

“We just felt there is nowhere in this area that does this, so let’s offer people a choice,” Mr Francis said.

“The restaurant has always been highly successful so we decided to launch a takeaway service for local residents and tourists to enjoy.

“Hopefully, people will get on board and choose us over Domino's and other chains like that.”

Rastelli Ristorante-Pizzeria won a Travellers’ Choice Award in 2022, has been reviewed 1,488 times and has an average TripAdvisor rating of 4.5/5.

Mr Francis added: “We want to please as many people as we can. For example, if someone says they want meatballs and it’s not on the menu, then I’ll find a way to make them it.”
