A NEW music venue, wine bar and cafe in Ulverston is planning its first autumn programme of events.

Market Square business WaConcept opened in March and is set across four floors. It operates as a cafe and art gallery, and also features an underground wine cellar.

Indie folk band The Native Cult will play outdoors on the first date of WaConcept's autumn calendar on September 17 from 5pm to 7pm.

WaConcept is run by Jennifer Ortega, who came from Lake Garda, Italy. She said when the venue opened: "Ulverston was a really friendly place where we felt we could explore our ideas. It wasn’t a commercial place – it had identity and a great feeling which is what we wanted.

“We want people to come and hopefully share art and enjoy good quality wine and food.”
