A woman in Kendal celebrated her 100th birthday with a 'visit' from the King of England.

Maud, a resident at Heron Hill care home, was kept company by models of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla.

Year Six pupils from Heron Hill Primary School also visited the centenarian to commemorate the landmark birthday.

Maud's daughter Julie said: "'I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for making Mum's birthday into such a special event.

"I think the staff had fun with Charles and Camilla, posing them in different ways to make mum laugh."

The care home is run by Abbey Healthcare, who owns 16 establishments across England and Scotland.

"She had a lovely visit from some of the pupils, who made her a beautiful card."
