Nuclear supply chain company, NSG Environmental, has relocated from its long-held office in Cleator Moor, to the Westlakes Science Park. To mark the occasion NSG made a £6,000 donation to ‘HomeToWork’ allowing the charity to complete the funding process for a new kitchen unit that will be based at the GoodLives facility on the Westlakes Science Park.

NSG Consultancy Services Director, Grainne Carpenter, officially opened the office on the October 25, saying: “Having outgrown our current space in Cleator Moor, this move underpins our business’ continued growth, but by collaborating with HomeToWork allows us to maintain and grow our connection with the town that incubated the growth of our consultancy capability in West Cumbria.”

Home to Work’s mission is to improve wellbeing and inspire breakthrough and positive change through holistic support including therapeutic and creative activity as well as outdoor learning and education. Ultimately, they aim to relieve poverty and help people into sustainable and meaningful employment.

Through their Skills4You projects they offer innovative and progressive learning experiences that are set in the heart of our local communities. With their support, learners have been able to address barriers such as long-term unemployment, social-isolation, poor physical and mental health and addiction issues.

Karen Jones Managing Director of Home to Work said: “I am literally over the moon with this donation.  Thank you so very much!  This money will be used as match funding to allow us to access the grant for a portacabin kitchen on the Goodlives site.

"The site grows fresh produce, and this money will mean that we will be able to cook this produce - not only so that we can provide training but also make meals for our Learners to share.  This dream is about to become a reality thanks to your kindness.

"Our plan is to continue our drive to make the project more sustainable and the kitchen is an important part of that plan.”

Jim Porter NSG Managing Director said: “Our aim at NSG is to sustain a stable, profitable, and responsible business. Our move to Westlakes is testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams which has enabled our growth and allowed us to further our commitment to delivering real social value to our communities.

"Embracing new collaborations, partnerships and relationships is fundamental to the collective success of our communities economically, socially, and environmentally. Collaboration and amalgamation of efforts increases the value of any activity undertaken to provide a real and noticeable benefit.

"A new kitchen facility is critical to HomeToWork’s objectives and so was a great opportunity for us to support their outstanding work. The new kitchen will facilitate the growth of the amazing service that Goodlives already offers in improving the lives of so many people in the local area."
