NEWLYWEDS who met while playing cricket have enjoyed an 'intimate' wedding in the Lake District with friends and family.

29-year-old physiotherapist Natalie Jane Prestidge-Lyons tied the knot to 37-year-old data analyst Dawn Elizabeth Prestidge-Lyons.

The couple met playing cricket for the same team several years ago where they became friends, and after some years of friendship began their romantic relationship.

"Dawn was always a very compassionate and loyal friend to everyone not just me, said Natalie.

"I also like that she was very passionate about cricket and I later found that this is not isolated to cricket but she is passionate about everything she holds close. It also helped that I found her very attractive"

Dawn said: "Natalie is a very kind and loving person who is incredibly generous and caring. She sees the positive in every situation. When we became a couple, it was like everything fit at last, and I found my forever person."

The couple got engaged in March 2022 after a surprise prepared by Dawn.

Natalie said: "We went for a walk at a place called White Coppice in Chorley where we live, walked to the top of a hill and Dawn, looking terrified, asked me to marry her.

"She was so anxious about it that she didn’t actually hear me say yes initially, which of course added to her anxiety at that moment. It was an easy yes for me, I will never forget the look of terror on her face though."

The couple got married in September 2023 at Lindeth Howe in Windermere with 32 guests.

The couple's fathers walked them down the aisle to an instrumental version of Dawn's favourite song Can’t Help Falling In Love.

"It was an emotional ceremony with plenty of tears from us and our guests," said Natalie.

"I think if we had to sum up the day in a few words we would say intimate, emotional, joyful and perfect."

The couple has a minimoon planned in the Peak District with their 18-month-old puppy Poppy, but in December they will embark on the official honeymoon to New Zealand for a 3-week adventure.

"We would like to thank all of our guests for making the day so special to us both, a special mention to both of our families for their roles in the wedding day," concluded the pair.
