A SIX-week National Highways project at Three Bridges on the A590 between Ulverston and Swarthmoor will start on Monday.
The project will be overnight working between 8pm and 5am from Monday to Friday nights only.
According to an email sent to local councillors by Cameron Newsham, the project manager of the scheme, there is a defective masonry retaining wall which runs parallel to the 40mph carriageway.
He said: "Our scheme is to remove the existing masonry wall and replace with a modular block retaining wall system.
"This modular block system will allow for quicker and easier future maintenance as opposed to the traditional mortar and concrete block repairs."
Work will start on November 6 and continue to December 15.
There will be two-way traffic lights each night. Some nights the speed limit will be dropped to 10mph to allow a convoy vehicle past the works.
There is no plan to have traffic management on-site during the day unless safety concerns arise. Mr Newsham said that noisier activities will be done earlier in the evening.
