KENDAL woodwork enthusiasts are using their skills to provide perfect homes for garden wildlife and raise money for a cancer charity.

CancerCare’s woodwork therapy group have been making and selling special hedgehog houses to help support local people coping with the effects of cancer and bereavement this Christmas.

The group meets weekly at the charity’s workshop on Blackhall Road and make a variety of handcrafted products, ranging from birdboxes to coffee tables, under the guidance of expert tutor Tom Webster.

The group sells many of the items they make, and the hedgehog houses have been particularly popular with visitors to the centre snapping them up to make cosy winter homes for their prickly pals.

The boxes are £25 each and available to order by emailing kim.keith@cancercare.org.uk

The woodwork group provides a weekly space for people affected by cancer and bereavement to lose themselves in crafting and creating while supporting each other through shared experiences.
