THE owners of Spinning Jennies, the development transforming the former Beales in Kendal into a new retail space, have revealed the name of its new food market.

Opening in early 2024, LOOM will provide food from six different kitchens on the first floor of Spinning Jennies.

Details of the different cuisines that the kitchens will provide will be revealed in the coming weeks.

LOOM will provide a seating area as part of the hospitality space with more to follow when the roof terrace is opened later next year. This terrace will provide a view over Kendal Castle and the fells.

There will also be a bar in the middle of the communal seating area, offering over a dozen keg and cask ales, a cocktail list and fine wines.

Hospitality director Paul Jones said: "We have been working hard, amid a complex refurbishment, to be able to bring this type of multi-option eating-out facility to Kendal in the Lake District.

"The use of local produce and variety of street style food with global influence will undoubtedly add to the neighbourly fun and vibrancy re-emerging down Finkle Street. LOOM on the top floor is all part of the one-stop destination for eating, meeting and shopping for the surrounding communities and the area’s many visitors."

Geri Ward, who is driving the Spinning Jennies vision, said: "Making this happen isn’t easy and we still have work to do to bring this top floor alive from where ladies fashion used to be.

"Once open, it will be a dream come true and that it is going to be in the same building as a celebration of the English Lake District farmers and makers produce on our Cumbrian retail floor, plus other activities and offerings still to be announced."
