A PENRITH baker has put a ‘pause’ on her business, as she cares for her teenage son who is in treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Linda Hebson has paused her Penrith business Linda’s Cupcakes to support her teenage son who is currently fighting cancer, after finding it difficult being able to plan more than a week ahead at a time, over the last few months.

Jack Musgrave, from Penrith, 15, is currently undergoing six months of treatment for Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Linda has said that ‘after a lot of thought’ she has decided to cancel all future orders, but says is not her closing her business, simply a pause until what her and her family decided on what might be the best thing going forward.

She said: “After a lot of thought, I've decided to cancel all future orders. I haven't come to this decision lightly, but I can't plan past about a week at a time at the moment.

“Jack and I appreciate all the offers of taking him to hospital for appointments on different days, so I can get on with work and we've talked about it, but Jack said he just wants me to take him.

“If there's something Jack doesn't want to do or doesn't agree with, he'll soon voice his opinion.

“This isn't me closing my business it's just a pause until I work out what's best. I haven't baked a single thing since mid-October.

“I was hoping to make elf on the shelf cupcakes last month then that never happened. “ Linda said the time off will now give her time to readjust and rethink how her business will move forward, “I’ve grown a successful cake business over the years & with a loyal client base so hopefully they'll all be there when I start back up.”, she said.

“I think moving forward it'll be a case of me offering traybakes, shortbread, cupcakes as and when I've time to bake things...a bit like brownie treat boxes etc.

"I have been wanting to downscale the large celebration cakes for a while now & get back to cupcakes what I love to make and expand the traybake/treat range. So maybe all this happening has just given me time to rethink and readjust.

“On that note I'd like to wish you all a Happy Christmas, thanks for all your custom this year, all your messages and support after the year took a turn for the worse in October and the unbelievable support for Jack.

“Him getting better is my main priority and my Christmas wish.... also, Carlisle United pulling themselves out of relegation would be the perfect gift for Jack.”
