Vulnerable beneficiaries of The Rawthey Project received a hearty Christmas welcome at The Dalesman Country Inn over the festive period.

Over the holiday season, from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day, thirty beneficiaries and their close ones were invited to join owners Mike Garnett, Hannah Kay Bromfield and staff for an experience to remember.

Guests arrived on Christmas Eve and partook in a Children’s Nativity and a Community Carol Service which held at St Andrews Church.

Following breakfast on Christmas Day, the group were joined by members of the public for a walk.

Due to the inclement weather, the group avoided Howgill Fells and instead chose to stick to a walk along the river.

Afterwards, the group sat down for a traditional Christmas Dinner at The Dalesman Country Inn.

The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent joyfully playing games and opening presents at the Sedbergh Peoples Hall.

Mr Garnett and Ms Bromfield managed to conclude the festive period on a positive note with a Boxing Day morning breakfast of freshly cooked bacon sandwiches, whilst attendees observed the Sedbergh tradition of a Local Hunt meeting.

By the time the guests departed, they had 'fond memories and hope in their hearts'.

Without the kindness displayed by the residents of Sedbergh, Mr Garnett, Ms Bromfield, and the supporters of The Rawthey Project, these beneficiaries would have found it hard to experience any joy during the festive season.

It was their charitable donations that ensured the attendees did not have to worry about their next meal or provisioning a joyful Christmas for their children.

The Rawthey Project CIC was established for the benefit of the community, particularly, but not limited to, the Armed Forces, Emergency Services and NHS communities.

It was founded to support the disadvantaged and vulnerable by connecting beneficiaries with volunteers.

The Rawthey Project would like to extend their gratitude towards The Dalesman Country Inn and the residents of Sedbergh for 'their continued support and friendship'.
