A Moonlight Walk organised by a hospice is returning this June after high demand.

St John’s Hospice has announced the return of its popular charity walk on June 15 around Lancaster and Morecambe.

The event invites participants to honour and remember loved ones through the 15km trek which starts and ends at St John’s Hospice on Slyne Road.

Emma Farmer, the fundraiser at St John’s Hospice, said: "The Moonlight Walk has always been one of our most popular events and provides a great opportunity to do something positive in honour of a loved one.

"We had decided to retire the Moonlight Walk to give it a break, but we had so much feedback that we’ve brought it back earlier than expected!"

Ms Farmer also alluded to upcoming changes, assuring that the organisers are working to keep the event interesting for participants, with ideas for a refresh in the pipeline for Moonlight Walk 2024.

The night-time march is inclusive to everyone aged 11 and above and not limited to those who have been personally impacted by the work of the hospice.

Participants are provided with a t-shirt which can be personalised in memory of a cherished loved one.

Alongside the main event, there are other activities available at St John’s from 8pm, with the walk officially setting off at 10pm.

Tickets are priced at £20 per person but are set at a 25 per cent discount when using the code WALK before February 29, 2024.

All participants are being encouraged to aim to raise at least £50 through sponsorship or donation to assist in funding for the hospice's essential local services.
