LOVEBIRDS enjoyed an outdoor wedding overlooking Windermere with 32 guests.

Rebecca Jane Hunt, a 37-year-old estate agent, married Craig Alan Hunt, a 44-year-old field service engineer.

The pair met in a pub in July 2019 in Thorpe St Andrew. Craig explained he loved Rebecca's 'beautiful smile' and 'warm personality' and Rebecca was attracted by Craig's 'kind eyes' and 'genuine laughter.'

The engagement proposal came after a weekend away for Rebecca's birthday at Port Lympne, a safari park, to stay at one of the leopard lodges.

"The engagement was a complete surprise," said Rebecca.

"It was such an incredible weekend, and the safari park was brilliant, although I managed to take the top off my big toe when I tripped over in sandals, necessitating a trip to the medical room. So when Craig proposed that evening, I had a very large and profoundly unattractive bandage around my foot. It didn't ruin the moment at all."

The pair got married on August 8 2023, at Silverholme Manor, in Graythwaite Estate, with the presence of 32 guests.

The great weather allowed the couple to have an outdoor wedding on a terrace overlooking the lake.

Rebecca said: "Silverholme Manor was such a perfect, intimate venue. It enabled all of our guests to be part of the whole experience, as most of them were staying at the manor with us for three days or in a holiday cottage on the estate nearby."

"A highlight of the ceremony was the personal wedding vows we wrote to each other. A stand-out moment for me was when Craig told me I am his best friend, his soul mate and the love of his life. Also, we both unknowingly spoke of our mutual love of the mountains and wanted to climb every mountain together."

Craig said that a stand-out moment for him was when he turned around and saw Rebecca walking down.

A wedding guest told the couple that a military fighter plane that flew over the lake during our ceremony dipped its wings at them.

"Craig's dad gave a very heartwarming speech and Tiree Dawson managed to catch a shot of us both wiping a tear away - that was a very precious moment," said Rebecca.

"Craig's mum was sadly taken very poorly on our wedding day, though. She was very ill with sepsis and ended up being admitted to hospital that evening. However, it is a highlight to us that she did manage to make it out to the ceremony and joined us for some photos. It meant the world to us to have her there."

The couple said that Rebecca’s dad made a very funny and heartfelt speech, as did Craig’s three best men.

The couple, from Norwich, had a 'perfect' week's honeymoon in the Lake District after their marriage.

"We really just want to thank every guest for coming to the Lake District for our wedding and making the whole experience the most wonderful occasion full of laughter and incredible memories," concluded the couple.
