RESIDENTS have celebrated the reopening of a community club after renovations were finished.

Members of The Club Inn in Endmoor have been busy over the last two weeks refurbishing and decorating the premises.

For the first time in 35 years the club was decorated after putting out a plea to raise some money.

With £3,000 raised by the community, thirty volunteers and committee members gave their time painting, putting down new flooring, and re-wiring. Renovations were made to the bar, the snug, the lounge and the pool room.

Gemma Charlton, chair of the committee, said: "Electricians, plumbers, decorators joined us. Volunteers would come and clean and decorate. It is just a good community coming together to make a community asset even better."

At a packed reopening on Friday, January 19, Gemma thanked people for attending. Members enjoyed a free Prosecco or beer when they renewed their membership. There was a celebration cake, a pizza truck from Big Bear's BBQ Pizza & Grill and live music from the duo Off Limits in the function room.

It was reassuring that volunteers came from all over the village, including the new Fellside Manor estate, making it a truly community event.

Gemma added: "Over 120 people who came in were all overwhelmed. All feedback was positive. Everyone said how much it needed to be upgraded. They couldn't believe the amount of work that we have done - it absolutely transformed the place.

"It is absolutely brilliant and overwhelming. Clearly, it shows the community coming together and creating something even better for the community to use - it is brilliant."

The Club Inn, located on Main Street, is open for live sport from Wednesday to Thursday from 7pm until 11pm, on Friday from 6pm until 11.30pm and on Saturday from 3pm to 12am.
