A driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after lorry jackknifed on the A591.
Yesterday morning (January 27) at around 9am Cumbria Police received reports that an HGV had crossed the grass central reservation of the A591 and was stuck blocking the road.
This initially required the closure of the A591 in both directions, and the southbound was reopened to release trapped traffic before recovery vehicles arrived.
The force explained the attending officers arrested a male on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit for alcohol.
A spokesperson for South Lakes Police said: "Following evidential readings being taken Sergejs Loginovs of Leicester has been charged with driving over the prescribed limit. Loginovs will appear before South Cumbria Magistrates on February 14 2024.
"Thank you to the motorists delayed by this incident.
"Your patience and understanding is appreciated."
