The owner of an espresso bar in Kendal has spoken out to address several rumours and misconceptions that have recently circulated in the town.

About Time Espresso Bar, located at 21 New Shambles, was first established in September 2018 however has recently closed the Finkle Street part of the bar that opened in November 2022.

Since the announcement owner Bobbi Fisher has found herself having to reiterate that the business is still very much here.

Bobbi said: "It seems to have been in the last week or two. I've heard things either directly or through hearsay - and it only takes one person to say something incorrectly so I thought I'd get the word out.

"We've closed the Finkle Street part of the bar but we've gone back to our original backstreet entrance.

"I created a big 6ft x 6ft sign sign in the window of the Finkle Street shop front to let people know that we are still here."

Bobbi has also found herself addressing more misconceptions about the bar that have also seemed to have circulated recently.

"I've seen people saying recently that we're 'the best gay bar in town', and that's not a bad thing," said Bobbi.

"Of course we accept gay people - one of my staff members is gay, I myself am trans. We're not specifically a gay and LGBT+ bar however but I don't want to put people off by saying that this isn't a safe place or the place for them.

"We hold Kendal First Friday! KFF a LGBT+ event on the first Friday or every month were people can come and meet people - I always say whatever blend or flavoured human being you are we accept.

"It's the same way people have recently started to say we're a cocktail bar. We do do cocktails but we're not specifically a cocktail bar - but we also do bottled beers and shots of whisky like an American dive bar.

"We're just a crazy little bar that's just a lot of fun for everyone."

Although some events are not taking place on Friday and Saturday nights any more, the bar is still open until 11pm on Friday and Saturday.

The coffee bar is looking at holding more events this year and is in talks with drag queen Nova Gina about holding a possible regular evening.
