A group of walkers were rescued from a Lake District Fell after they were found 'soaked through', 'lost' and 'disorientated'.

Conditions were described as 'wet' at Black Fell at High Arnside when Coniston Mountain Rescue Team were called out around 4pm on Tuesday.

CumbriaPolice had contacted the team to give them the location of the four wayward walkers on a bridleway.

A spokesperson for Coniston Mountain Rescue Team said: "We despatched one Land Rover, drove to their position, and assessed them as being well enough to carry on.

"Since they had become disorientated and were quite a few miles from their vehicle, we therefore drove them back to their own vehicle."

Around eight volunteer team members attended with the rescue lasting one hour and ten minutes.
