A group based in Milnthorpe have backed a national charity by raising £1500 following an event in August.

The Westmorland County Show and Agricultural Society held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, February 17 in which they announced the results of their fundraising efforts.

The President's Chosen Charity for this year was the Sepsis Trust, which was founded in 2012 in the hope of ending preventable deaths from sepsis and improving outcomes for sepsis survivors.

Grace Watson, a member of the charity, visited the society on Saturday to be presented with the cheque.

The charitable news coincided with the end of a four year term of office for Chairman Lisa Bennett, who handed the reins of the Westmorland society over to Mathew Robinson.
