It’s International Women’s Day, celebrating females around the world for their social, economic, cultural, and political achievements.

We asked readers to give a shout out to the most inspirational women in their life and this is what you said…

Jane Lewis Heslop gave a shout out to her mam, Margaret Lewis, who celebrates her 83rd birthday tomorrow. Saying, she ‘watched me go through breast cancer and was there every minute of every day’. Jane also wanted to celebrate her 18-year-old daughter, Rosie Heslop who was ‘equally as amazing’ when she was dealing with her illness. “I'm beyond lucky to have these two amazing women in my life,” she said.

Sue List said: “My Sister, Anita Birkett is strong, loving, and I love her so much.” Anita Birkett replied saying her sister Sue List, is ‘always there when I need her, or when anyone needs her.’ 

Stephanie Kerr gave a shout out to her auntie, Carol Greenall and her best friend Erica Rochelle Jackson. She said: “No matter what life throws at them; nothing keeps them down. They're the strongest women I know!”

Mandy Burgess mentioned her ‘beautiful daughter’, Dawn Robinson, who has gone through ‘so much’ in the last six months. “You are amazing,” Mandy wrote, “You have gone through everything with such bravery, always a smile on your face. We have fallen apart but you held it all together, you have been there for all of us even through all your heart ache. I am so proud of you, and I am so lucky and blessed to have you as my daughter, I love you so much.”

Jen Cox tagged her daughters Rachel Hubbold and Katherine Sara. She said: “Both mums to my amazing and clever grandsons, who were all born during Covid. They have coped with all of the day-to-day problems that children and being a mum brings.” Jen wished a Happy International Women's Day and Mother's Day to all mums and women.

Lynn Harrison gave a shout out to her mam, Irene Bridgens and her sister Lesley Fenton.

Sophie Harvey tagged Jay Stafford and Michelle Foster, saying: “These women made me the woman I am today and for that I'll forever be grateful.” Michelle Foster replied: “Love you so much princess!”
