A COMMUNITY theatre is putting on a festival on the streets of Kendal to mark the start of summer.
May Fest, hosted by Kendal Community Theatre, will take place in the town centre between 10am to 12pm on May 25.
Singers, dancers, musicians and actors will parade through the town from the Parish Church in Kirkland up to the Market Place and along Stramongate, telling stories as they go.
They will take on the role of ‘Green People’ and will invite passersby to join in, to sing and to parade.
Anyone can join in but they are asked to bring something that makes a noise.
Carolyn Francis will lead the band and be joined by international musicians Neil Luck, Adam de la Cour, Benedict Taylor and other guest musicians.
May Fest invites everyone to particulate, either by attending the four-hour rehearsals commencing on April 27 in Kendal Parish Hall, or by joining the procession on the day.
Free ivy wreaths and green face paint will be given to everyone who turns up.
