An emergency evening road closure has been put in place on an Ulverston road 'due to the likelihood of danger to the public'.

Evening road closures will be put in place at North Lonsdale Road due to the dangerous condition of the carriageway.

This notice will be needed for at least ten nights during the hours of 6pm and 2am.

Ulverston Town Council gave the exact location of the damaged highway on its Facebook page which is a section of North Lonsdale Road, from its junction with Monument Way.

It extends in a south-easterly direction for a distance of approximately 730 metres.

An alternative route has been offered via Sandside Road, Morecambe Road, A5087, A590 and North Lonsdale Terrace.

Due to the nature of the works, it is not possible to maintain access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists through the extents of the temporary road closure.

Any queries should be directed to the Highways Hotline by calling 0300 373 3306 or via the Westmorland & Furness Council website, quoting the reference TTROW/10441.

Anyone affected can view the extent of the restriction and any alternative routes here.
