Open to children between the ages of eight and 12, all entries must be submitted by Thursday, August 1.

The competition will then be narrowed down to 15 designs, with an expert panel deciding on the overall winner.

This panel will comprise of Doctor Who Magazine's editor Jason Quinn, comic strip writer and former editor John Freeman, and artist Mike Collins.

Archie Phillips, a Doctor Who enthusiast from Milnthorpe, will also be part of the judging process.

The winning monster will be revealed and discussed at the start of the Sixty Years of Doctor Who Comics event at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival 2024, which will take place on September 27 - 29 in Bowness-on-Windermere.

Within this event, Quinn, Freeman and Collins will conduct a special session, in which they will collectively brainstorm a potential story featuring the winning monster in collaboration with the audience.

They aim to create a unique comic strip tale to be published in DWM in 2025.

In addition, attendees will learn about the process of creating a Doctor Who comic and be given exclusive insights into future storylines by Quinn.

Children wishing to take part should draw and send in their unique designs to comicart@comicfestival.com or by post to the Lakes International Comic Art Festival (Beatrix House, Kendal Road, Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria LA23 3FB) by Thursday, August 1,

Once selected, the winning entrant will be informed by Thursday, August 22, with the magazine hoping they will be able to attend the festival in September and participate in the drafting of their monster's future storyline.
