A SECTION of a busy road in the Lake District will close for resurfacing works as the carriageway is in 'extremely poor' condition.

A section of the A5074 will close from  from April 15-18. A council order will prohibit all traffic, including pedestrians and cyclists, from proceeding along the 955 metre section of the A5074 Winster heading north-west from its junction with the C5048 north of Damson Dene.

The order anticipates that the restriction will only be required during the hours of 7pm and 4am.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available. It will be along unrestricted sections of the A5074 Kendal Road, A592 and A590.
