NEWLYWEDS said 'I do' ten years after a Christmas Day proposal.

Melanie Walker (now Muscat), a 37-year-old business owner, tied the knot in Windermere to Daniel Muscat a 43-year-old mechanic.

The lovebirds caught each other's eyes on a night out in Manchester followed by a date the next day.

In 2014, Daniel proposed on Christmas Day, which is Melanie's favourite day of the year and it was a 'complete surprise'.

The couple got married at The Broadoaks Country House with 31 guests on February 9.

Melanie said: "It was a perfect amount for us as we got to spend time with everyone. We attended a wedding fair five months before we got married at the Broadoaks and we knew that we wanted to get married there.

"We can't recommend The Broadoaks Country House enough for a wedding, large or intimate. The staff from the very beginning were amazing, made us feel at ease and took control of everything on the day so it all ran really smoothly.

"We chose to stay over the night before in the retreat and I had a girly night with my mum and daughters whilst Daniel was in the main house with my dad, Daniel's parents and our son Joshua who was also best man.

"The food was possibly the best I've ever eaten, everyone complimented it, the setting was stunning and the staff even gave us a lovely gift on departure. We had a pianist called Peter Brown play during our wedding breakfast, he was a massive hit with the guests and the perfect background music.

"The weather was not the best as you can imagine in February but we were determined to get the best photos and our photographers from different angled photography were amazing.

For their honeymoon, the pair from Manchester are planning a summer holiday with the children.

Mr and Mrs Muscat would like to thank Melanie's parents Neil and Christine for 'making it possible', all of the staff at the Broadoaks Country House, the photographers from different angled photography, Peter Brown, the jukebox for the evening entertainment and all of the guests for making the day as 'special' as it was.
