THERE are 19 unclaimed estates left in Cumbria, according to the latest data published by the Government.

The Government has published a daily list of unclaimed estates since 2013 on its website. When someone dies with no will or known family, their property passes to the Crown as ownerless property. This can be buildings, money or personal possessions.

You can be entitled to a share of a deceased relative’s property, and a grant from the estate if you provided the person with free services, lived with the person (as their partner or friend) but not married, or represent a charity or body that cared for the person at considerable expense.
