A FORMER rockstar turned water campaigner was in attendance at a Save Windermere protest.
Feargal Sharkey came up to Windermere from London to speak outside United Utilities' Information Centre on Crescent Road.
Save Windermere, started by Matt Staniek in July 2021, is a group campaigning to end sewage pollution in England's largest lake. It became a registered not-for-profit Community Interest Company at the start of last year.
Mr Sharkey addressed the crowd of protesters, who have been convening every Monday outside the centre for the last 23 weeks.
He became famous through his late-70s punk rock band The Undertones, which penned hits such as Teenage Kicks and Here Comes the Summer.
In recent years he has become known for campaigning on water issues across England.
He called Mr Staniek's campaign 'one of the best if not the best local campaigning groups in the country.'
