A POPULAR Penrith café has announced it will be closing at the end of the month, as it's heartbroken owners say running costs are too high with not enough people coming through the doors.

Café V on Princess Street, Penrith will be closing their doors on Thursday, April 25 after owner Sue Vollans and Emma (Manager & Chef) made the 'heart-breaking' decision to close after three years in the venue.

The owners wished to thank all the customers and staff members for their support over the years and kind words following their decision to close the café.

In a statement, V's café owner Sue Vollans said:  "We are really sorry but we have some heart breaking news we must share.  Unfortunately we’re having to close.  It’s really not been an easy decision for us but running costs are too high and unfortunately there isn’t enough people coming through the door.

"We are both absolutely devastated, our dream had finally come true 3 years ago of having our own place but unfortunately it’s not worked out.  We will miss all our lovely customers and we appreciate our regulars support so much.

"Thank you for all the lovely comments, it means the world. We really appreciate them.

"Emma doesn’t work for the money (yes she know it helps pay for bills) but she does what she does because she loves it! She does it because seeing other people happy makes her happy. She doesn’t know what will be happening next but she hopes she will see you all around.  She’s made some great friends and met lots of lovely people.

"Not only have we met lovely customers we have also worked with some lovely staff members and want to say “thank you” to all previous and current, who have helped support us and worked hard over the past few years."

The café owners have said they will honour all unused vouchers up to closing date and say that there will be a free hot drink for customers in the final week, whether loyalty cards are full or not.
