A hike up Helvellyn is hoping to be the key to the Great North Air Ambulance reaching new heights.

People are being asked to tackle the 15km walk to raise money for the charity with entry costing £25 per person.

The popular ascent will see participants try to reach a minimum sponsorship of £100 to provide the air ambulance service with as much vital funds as possible.

It was recently revealed that the charity is expected to run at a deficit in 2024, meaning fundraisers such as this are more important than ever.

The hike will take place on Saturday, July 13 and will start from the east side of Thirlmere, providing a steadier climb to reach the Helvellyn summit.
