THOUSANDS of pounds has been sent to mountain rescue teams in the Lake District since the airing of a new documentary.

Lake District Rescue, which used body cam footage from rescuers to highlight the work they do, premiered on Sunday on More4,

Over £3,000 has been raised for teams since it aired.

The first episode is available to watch now on All4, featuring rescue attempts in Eskdale, Keswick, Coniston and on Scafell Pike.

The teams across the county require roughly £1 million a year to stay in operation, meaning the spike in interest is set to massively assist their efforts.

All the incidents in the show are real and were filmed last year over the course of their busiest Summer on record, with over 700 call-outs recorded.
