A WOMAN is appealing for help in her quest to identify a wedding party that her grandfather is stood in - but he has no known relation to.
Mary Driscoll, 64, said that her grandfather Herbert William Hoggarth was born in Windermere and he was a 'master grocer' owning a shop (Airey's) on Main Street, Windermere. She said that he used to deliver groceries to the big houses around the lake. When he retired he lived in Troutbeck which is now where he is buried.
She found a photo of her grandfather stood in a 'prominent' position to the far right of the wedding party that Ms Driscoll thinks is in front of Kendal Parish Church, but neither the bride nor the groom are his children.
Ms Driscoll said: "My grandfather was Windermere born, as was my mother. He was, in his younger days, a member of a band known as the 'Windermerians,' he was also a member of a local shooting club.
"I would like to know the relationship between my grandfather and the bride/groom, and also the lady he is standing next to. Is she a sister (my aunt) or a friend?"
She said that her mother talked about cousins but other than one aunt on her grandfather's side 'I do not recall' meeting others.
Her email is mary.driscoll@btconnect.com .
