A MAN who was caught drink driving has been sentenced in court.

Grzegorz Muszynski, 51, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to driving his Citroen C4 on the A590 at Lindale on April 1 this year whilst above the legal alcohol limit.

The defendant, of Backbarrow, was asked to provide a roadside breath test for analysis by police.

Court documents show the lowest reading was 58 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35.

At South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on May 7, magistrates decided to punish the defendant by imposing a £400 fine.

He was also disqualified from driving for 16 months and ordered to pay £85 in court costs, as well as £160 surcharge.

Magistrates offered Muszynski the opportunity to complete a drink-driving rehabilitation course of his choice, which if completed, would reduce the length of the ban by 16 weeks.
