AN INDIAN restaurant has reopened under new owners with fresh ideas and reduced prices.

Mohammed Noor, a businessman from Grange-over-Sands, took over Mumbai Indian Restaurant, a popular dining location with takeaway options for both locals and tourists on Stramongate in Kendal on April 28.

It comes following the news last month that the previous owners were retiring after serving the local community for 20 years.

The new owners are specialising in preparing free-range Indian food with no added colourings using only the freshest herbs and spices from around the world.

Mr Noor has run Akhi Indian Restaurant and takeaway on Main Street in Grange-over-Sands for the past four years.

The restaurant is rated 4/5 on TripAdvisor.

Mr Noor said he knew the previous owners of Mumbai and immediately saw the potential in taking over an already successful business.

“We decided to take over Mumbai in Kendal because we wanted a new challenge,” Mr Noor added.

“The people in the Lake District are amazing. It’s such a beautiful part of the country and it is so easy to do business with people here.

“There is a lot of potential in Kendal. It is much busier than Grange-over-Sands.

“We’re really excited about the prospect of being the new owners of this fabulous restaurant.

“We’ve had a great time since taking over a couple of weeks ago and have introduced a completely new menu with reduced prices.”
