LOVEBIRDS who met online have enjoyed a 'two of us' wedding in the Lake District.

Jasmine Burtenshaw, a 30-year-old midwife, tied the knot to Christopher Burtenshaw, a 35-year-old ex-military member, in Windermere.

The pair met online and on the first date, Chris said Jasmine's personality stood out in a crowded restaurant as she danced across the floor toward him.

Jasmine said: "I remember feeling I could see his kind soul through his bright blue eyes, very old school gentlemen and I loved that."

The couple got engaged in July 2019 in the garden of their first home on their son's third birthday.

They had a 'just the two of us' wedding at Merewood Country House in Windermere in May.

"We chose an intimate day because, amongst the crazy life of shift work and parenting, we just wanted to have a romantic few days away and get married in the middle of it," said the lovebirds.

"The Lake District was a place we had our first couples trip many years ago and we have also been there with our children exploring around Keswick and Windermere."

On their wedding day, the pair woke up together and had breakfast in bed. At the ceremony, the bride walked to the Song of Dandelions by Piano Fingers.

"I always say Chris is my dandelion as I always wished for a wonderful life and someone to share it with," said Jasmine.

"The sun was shining, the night before was a thunderstorm which we watched from our bedroom window. It was such a a clear beautiful day. We wrote our own vowels and shared those. We had photos at the hotel and then headed to the Jetti waterfront, everyone who passed us was clapping, shouting congratulations and taking photos it was wonderful!

"Back to the hotel for our afternoon tea that we shared and next to us was a couple who we got chatting to, they had been married 61 years. We spent a good hour talking to them asking about the secrets of a long marriage and any tips.

"The following day we explored Rydal Caves in the rain but we made the most of it and had lunch in a pub in Keswick we had been to just us pre-children - a very magical moment."

Their honeymoon is yet to be booked but they are planning a family moon with their two children, who are six and two.

The couple, from Essex, would like to thank their wedding coordinator at Merewood Beth Dawson, the bride's hairdresser Gareth Lamber, and makeup by Polly and Tiree Dawson for the pictures.
