A PUB was recognised for its high standards with an award.

The Pig and Whistle in Cartmel received the Best in Glass Award for 2024, an in-house Robinsons Brewery award that was launched to improve quality and standards across their pubs.

Best in Glass is only given to those meeting and exceeding Robinson's high standards and excellent quality.

Stephanie Simpson, of The Pig and Whistle, said: "We are thrilled that the Pig and Whistle has been recognised for such an award as it is a great accolade to receive. We are heading into our first summer season here at the Pig and we can’t wait to welcome plenty more faces for a quality pint and to try our increasingly popular food menu.

"From our popular take on surf ‘n’ turf to delicious burgers and desserts, our fantastic chef will make sure you leave well satisfied. We also have a great range of drinks on offer such as delicious cocktails, great pints and quality wines and a beautiful beer garden with stunning views in which to enjoy them.

"Locally there are some great upcoming events such as Cartmel Races and we will have plenty of delicious food and drink on offer to those visiting the village.

"The support and custom from locals and tourists alike has been wonderful so far since we took over the pub earlier this year and we hope this award is the first of many good things to come."

Best in Glass knits together Robinson's annual beer quality audit, Cask Marque audits, and training records and Vianet data (line cleaning, yield and cellar temperature).

This is to create a 360 suite of insights that allows them, and their Business Partners, to collect, analyse, and take action on data that will help improve and optimise beer quality, reduce waste, maximise yields and sales, raise pub cellar standards, and recognise and reward the beer quality heroes.

A spokesperson for Robinson's said: "We are proud to announce that a record number of 107 pubs have achieved the Gold Standard of 90% or above – well done to all of our winners."
