AN 81-YEAR-OLD woman had to be rescued fromthe River Kent on Tuesday after she lost control of her disabled
person's scooter and plunged into the river opposite theMillbeck Factory in Kendal.
Two men and a woman answered hercalls for help until police and fire crews arrived to get herout.
She was taken to Westmorland General Hospital for a checkup although she was not kept in.
The incident has promptedrenewed calls for improvements to the riverbank path.
JeanSimpson, who also drives a scooter, is urging South Lakeland DistrictCouncil to put up a sign saying the path is unsafe for scooterusers.
