A new season of 'Meet the Author' events is set to kick off in a town on the shores of Windermere next week.
The Bowness Book Club has a list of authors ready to engage with readers at the Burn How Hotel.
The first event, on Wednesday, March 26, at 7pm, will feature Alan Cleaver, a former journalist whose latest book, "The Postal Paths," was published by Monoray in April.
Cleaver's book delves into the routes traversed by rural postmen and women during the 19th and early 20th centuries, stories now part of history as these routes are serviced by vans.
Living in Whitehaven, Cleaver, along with his wife, Lesley Park, has authored several books about footpaths with historical significance, including corpse roads and trods.
The pair are known for their interest in folklore tied to the Cumbrian landscape.
The March 26 event is open to everyone, free of charge, with no requirement to read a particular book beforehand.
The club, now in its third year, has hosted a variety of authors, from crime writers to poets and adventurers.
Ellie Wood, author of books like "The Wildwater Women" is scheduled for April.
Wood, born and raised in the Lake District, draws inspiration from the landscape for her writing.
The club will also welcome Polly Atkin, winner of last year’s Lakeland Book of the Year Award, and Rachel Lynch, crime writer, in subsequent months.
