Lake District: New charity pet shop opens in Windermere

The Wainwright Shelter Shop, located at 18 Victoria Street, opened on July 26 and aims to raise funds for Animal Rescue Cumbria.

The shop offers a selection of dog and cat treats, pet food, bedding, outdoor wear for dogs and both new and used toys.

A freezer cabinet is also be available, catering to pets on raw diets or those who fancy a dog-friendly ice cream.

All proceeds are going directly towards supporting Animal Rescue Cumbria’s rescue operations, veterinary care, shelter facilities, and rehoming programmes.

"Every purchase will help us rescue dogs and support cats in need across our region, at a time when pet abandonment and neglect are greater than ever before.

"We would love the support of local people willing to volunteer to join our friendly shop team and particularly for shifts on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays."
